What cookies are and what they can be used for

A “cookie” is a small text file created by some websites on your computer when you access a particular site for the purpose of storing and transporting information. Cookies are sent by a web server (which is the computer running the website visited) to the user’s browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) and stored on the user’s computer; they are then sent back to the website on subsequent visits. Some operations could not be carried out without the use of cookies, which are therefore technically necessary in some cases. In other cases, the site uses cookies to facilitate and facilitate navigation by the user or to allow the user to take advantage of specifically requested services. Cookies can remain in the system for long periods of time and can also contain a unique identification code. This allows the sites that use them to keep track of the user’s navigation within the site itself, for statistical or advertising purposes, i.e. to create a personalized profile of the user starting from the pages the same has visited and then show and/or send targeted advertising (so-called Behavioural Advertising).

Social buttons

On the www.wise.town website, there are special “buttons” (known as “social buttons/widgets”) depicting the icons of social networks (e.g. linkedin). These buttons allow users who are browsing the sites to interact with a “click” directly with the social networks depicted there. In this case, the social network acquires the data relating to the user’s visit, while the Controller will not share any navigation information or user data acquired through its site with the social networks accessible thanks to the social buttons/widgets.
